Friday, June 13, 2014 morning dr appointment with new doctor…Dr. Hubbard…serious discussion of sugar and control….have to go back in ten days…came home and had serious discussion with Marie….banned potatoes, bread and pasta as wll as all sweets…. Finally went to work outside…had stopped by Ashland feed and gotten some fertilizer and lime….mixed fertilizer, lime, red river crab grass and summer mscc and spread it….to wet to get on the field with a tractor so no incorporation….but we had thunderstorm with .4 inches of rain so I am hopeful….all this went on the new area…
Saturday, June 14, 2014 fed stewarts stock morning and evening….worked at the poultry workshop in the morning from 7:00 til 1:00….came home and set up and cleaned out the front stall in the big barn…five front end loader buckets to the compost pile….started reading the chicken book…
Sunday, June 15, 2014 omlett and bacon at cracker barrel….walmart and roses….put together a bean and beef stew…may go clean the back stall this afternoon…sugar 157 this morning before breakfast….bought a new meter cheaper than I could by strips for the current one….cleaned the back stall…another five loader buckets…still have the middle stall and the stable to go….stable will wait as we are going to wean calves there next friday….six calves…bean with beef stew was pretty good even if I say so myself….Marie might find it a bit spicy…
Monday, June 16, 2014 quiche for breakfast with some sliced tomato…pretty good….fasting sugar 149 with the old meter…for lunch vienna sausage, celery, carrots, fruit with cottage cheese. Feed store after supper…supper was salad and chicken fajita…
Tuesday, June 17, 2014 sugar 131…grits with vienna sausage and salsa for breakfast…notice manure compost pile was steaming on my way out the driveway….site visit at work in caroline and got a good dose of chiggers and ticks….after work cut grass for a while….hot
Wednesday, June 18, 2014 sugar 130…hooooootttt day…office all day…going in driveway the manure compost was steaming even in the 97 degree weather with out any rain on the pile…cut grass after work…took a cool bath to cool off and the water got hot while I was in it….first night to use the air conditioner this year….Dee Dee was a happy dog…Marie struggling with my new dietary needs…I fixed my own lunch for tomorrow…tuna salad and veggie salad with diced tomatoes.
Thursday, June 19, 2014 sugar 116….boss gone on vacation…big storm in the afternoon….i had to race it home and got home the wind was blowing trees so bad I was really worried about being hit by a falling tree on the road….made it and got home just as the rain started…the weather terrorist had made Marie a nervous wreck and she said the sky was absolutely purple before the storm hit….I told her to relax that the sky was normally green before real bad weather….we had 6/10 of an inch in about 20 minutes
Friday, June 20, 2014 sugar 136…the storm brought a cooler night….Dee Dee still wanted to sleep under the air conditioner but I did not use it….she reminded me of old Rose who use to jump on the bed and look at the fan and then look at me….Rose was the biggest reason I bought that window unit and she only got to enjoy it one summer….but she enjoyed it….3:00 pm…came in to cool off…took photos of plot sown last week….ready pens to wean calves…got the calves up and sorted by the time court got there with the trailer….hauled them over here and weighed and weaned…quick lunch…some water problems…circuit breaker tripped did not find reason…then cut grass up front…now cooling off and catching up records and photos etc……manure compost pile has compressed about two feet over the week and is still steaming….steam did not show in the photo…
